Twenty years ago I started working at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital – a wonderful rural hospital where I lived. My children were young and it was important to be close to their schools and work in my own community.
The opportunities in a smaller hospital are many. Fortunately, I was asked to champion “Telemedicine” in our community which has grown into a well-established program. It’s a different area of nursing which involves both patient care and an administrative role. Our hospital is located in a rural community. For many of our patients, traveling to Ottawa or elsewhere to see a specialist may be quite difficult or in some cases not possible.
As a Registered Nurse, I am very proud to work at CPDMH. I have been able to build long standing bonds with many of our patients.
