Reporting to the Director FP&A and leading a team of analysts, the Finance Manager, FP&A is responsible for all core accounting processes and FP&A activities for the Silver Group Purchasing (SGP) and Corporate Assist portfolio. Primary responsibilities include period end close, management reporting and analysis on financial performance, quarterly forecasts and the annual budget.
The Finance Manager, FP&A will provide key financial leadership and support for various business partners in Operations. Accountabilities
Leadership
- Collaborate, build, and maintain relationships with the SGP sales team, Assist Regional Directors and other operational leaders
- Maintain industry knowledge and maintain co-operative relationships with SGP vendors & clients
- Assist in hiring, supervising, mentoring, and retaining skilled team members
- Leverage financial, business, and ERP knowledge to drive process improvements and create efficiencies
- Develop and monitor business performance metrics
- Oversee execution of internal control framework for functional area, by continuously evaluating and testing internal controls as required, including identification of improvement opportunities
- Manage or contribute to special projects as required
Period End Close
- Coordinate and manage all accounting and operational functions related to period end close activities
- Review and approve reconciliations and accrual journal entries to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Review Assist management fees accruals for accuracy and completeness
- Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes
- Analyze variances to budget, forecast and prior year and prepare insightful month end decks for presentation to senior management
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of the annual budget
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop inputs and assumptions for the budget and forecast process
- Work with various Business Partners to develop sales/revenue forecasts for SGP and Assist clients
- Highlight any risks and opportunities and report results and actions to executive leadership and other stakeholders as needed
Financial & Management Reporting and Business Analysis
- Review management reporting packages which include commentary and supports queries for strategic analysis, variance analysis, key KPIs and MD&A
- Provide insights to business partners and senior management and support decision-making
- Analyze Vendor and Client margins
- Support internal and external auditors
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- University degree and a CPA
- Prior responsibility for large, decentralized multi-location financial operations in organization of similar scale and complexity
- Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 and experience with large ERP platforms and utilizing KPI and financial data tools to interpret results (e.g., Power BI, visualization tools) to drive action-oriented objectives to improve operational performance
- Ability to deliver results and proactively add value across the organization while thriving in a matrix structure
- Demonstrated track record of building high performing finance teams with an operational focus
- Experience in health sector, real estate and/or regulated industries beneficial
- Committed to getting the job done with outstanding work ethic, in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and financial information/concepts in simple business terms to all levels of management
