Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services, the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for delivering responsive and timely Human Resources and Payroll services as part of our HR team, as well as providing day-to-day executive administrative support to the V.P. Corporate Services.
The successful candidate will be a team player who is tactful, diplomatic, excels in a fast-paced environment and has excellent attention to detail. Key focuses of the position include:
• Act as a first point of contact and ‘face of RVH’ for new staff, physicians, volunteers, and students, supporting recruitment with job posting management and onboarding;
• Provide timely and accurate responses to HR and Payroll related inquiries received via phone, email and in person;
• Schedule and initiate multi-stakeholder meetings via Zoom and Teams, prepare meeting minutes and draw up hospital-wide correspondence and memos on behalf of the V.P. Corporate Services and other Departments;
• Monitor, verify and update current employee records and paper files for applicable changes to stats/vacation entitlements, seniority hours and wage rates to comply with applicable legislative and union requirements;
• Administration of employee benefits, life insurance and pension programs;
• Entering weekly timesheet data and processing hospital-wide payroll.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates that have the following qualifications and experience:
• A college diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources and administration;
• A minimum of two (2) years Human Resources experience in a recruitment or generalist role;
• Excellent interpersonal, active listening, and organizational skills;
• Ability to work without supervision with considerable accuracy meeting deadlines;
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply collective agreements;
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office); demonstrated working knowledge of HRIS/Payroll systems an asset;
• Thrives in a fast paced environment, with tight deadlines, and frequent interruptions.
