Position Summary:
The Pediatric Physiotherapist works under the general supervision of the Manager Pediatric Community Programs and is a member of the Infant and Child Development Program and Pediatric Community Programs teams. The Pediatric Physiotherapist provides physiotherapy treatment programs for children (aged birth to 18 years) referred directly to the physiotherapy program as well as providing general development services for special needs or at risk children (aged birth to school entry) and their caregivers who are referred to the Infant and Child Development Program. This therapist provides counselling and information to families and/or community caregivers; delivers, monitors and evaluates physiotherapy and general development intervention programs using appropriate clinical approaches; participates in discipline-specific and interdisciplinary activities that are directed towards modeling and promoting a safe and healthy patient-centered environment.
Requirements:
Education and experience:
- Masters or Baccalaureate Physiotherapy degree or equivalent from a recognized University or School of Physiotherapy
- Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
- Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
- Previous experience in a pediatric rehabilitation setting and/or continuing education courses with a pediatric focus

- Demonstrated communication skills required for working with families with special needs
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others on the rehabilitation team
- Demonstrated ability to appreciate the importance of and be open to new concepts and trends in the academic and clinical field of health care knowledge
- Demonstrated patient safety focus
- Good attendance and availability required
