Duties:
- Set up patients for polysomnographic recordings (overnight sleep studies, nap & alertness tests)
- Monitor patients undergoing testing to ensure patient safety and maintain high quality recordings
- Conduct CPAP/Bi-Level titrations for patients with sleep-related breathing disorders
- Analyze recordings and prepare reports for sleep laboratory physicians
- Maintain required documentation on the electronic health record (EHR)
- Assist in administrative functions of the laboratory
- Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal
- Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with one of the following:
- B.Sc./B.A. in Life Sciences
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Registered EEG Technologist (REEGT)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)
- Demonstrate critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills in a multi-tasking high-volume environment
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team in a highly organized manner
- Knowledge of infection control standards
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task and to respond to rapidly changing situations
- CPR Certification Level B within the last 12 months
- WHMIS update within the last 12 months
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
