Summary of responsibilities

This position will effectively support the Cornwall Community Hospital by promoting the overall Transformation and Project Management Office governance process by providing project management expertise to various departments and projects primarily related to the Hospital Information System (Cerner Millennium) and associated/interfaced systems. The PM will work proactively as a partner with teams in identifying opportunities to enhance patient and staff experience by facilitating and structuring collaboration, and building capacity in transformation management and improvement across CCH.

This individual is goal-oriented and will provide project team leadership support to help institute departmental and organizational changes that will be taking place. The PM must be highly organized, innovative, passionate and results-oriented professional who will strive to understand and appreciate the diversity of the patient population and workforce.

The PM will lead, coordinate and support a diverse set of projects (in areas including – but not limited to Transformation Management, Change Management, Programs Development, etc.) by providing end to end- project management responsibilities. This includes managing some project deliverables and all aspects of the project life cycle which includes, initiation, planning execution, monitoring/ control and closeout. This comprises analyzing current business processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement and designing, developing, testing and implementing change ideas through the framework and processes established through the Transformation and Project Management Department.

The individual will ensure all project management and improvement documentation is completed, following appropriate standards, and will consult business owners, executive sponsors, and other appropriate stakeholders for input as required.
The PM will coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work. This individual will also advocate for Patient and Family Advisor utilization where appropriate, and guide project and program teams along that engagement process.
The PM will work on driving the transformation to stay true to the end-state vision and actively manage risks and issues to ensure delivery of the desired benefits. This will be exercised through many program management processes, including formal governance decision making, assisting in identifying staff and resources to participate in the transformation, and monitoring and control of transformation program progress.
The PM must also assess any project for financial and economic feasibility, as well as its investment budget, and are responsible for administrative activities (estimates and cost control) and monitoring the activities set for each project.

Requirements of the job

o Demonstrated experience implementing projects within or integrating to a Hospital Information System environment
o Sound project management skills with an understanding of methodology and philosophies.
o Demonstrated experience in using project management tools such as a project charter, project schedules, status reports, change requests, risk management and budget management.
o Demonstrated understanding of improvement principles and methodology (5S, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, process mapping/flow diagrams, etc)
o Solid understanding of processes within healthcare
o Confidence and ability to provide coaching
o Ability to coordinate and facilitate a work team or focus group
o Excellent critical thinking skills with a strong attention to detail
o Solid communication skills (both written and oral)
o Demonstrates strong business writing skills in preparing reports, briefings, e-mails and other corporate communications.
o Problem-solving and analytical skills with process driven mentality
o Excellent stakeholder management skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to be consultative
o Flexible and responsive in a complex and dynamic environment
o Team-oriented
o Exceptional organization & time management skills; must be able to work and perform duties with no supervision and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
o Strategic view and ability to interrelate projects and initiatives to align with Corporate strategic goals
o Computer skills with hands-on capabilities in Microsoft: including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
o Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record
o 2 Years minimum direct experience working on projects directly related to Hospital Information Systems (Cerner Millennium preferred).
o 5 Years of project management and/or improvement experience; Undergraduate Degree in health discipline or PMI Certification.
o LEAN certificate (green – black belt).
