Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.
Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the Director Perioperative Services and working with staff and physicians, assesses the patient and provides required preoperative teaching, ensures completion of required diagnostics and communication of abnormal results to the appropriate physician, so that the patient is ready for the proposed surgical procedure at the scheduled time.
Requirements of the job
• Holds current Certificate from the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Holds current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
• Demonstrated assessment and patient teaching skills
• 5 years current surgical or critical care (ICU/ED) experience
• Competent skills of phlebotomy, taking 12 lead cardiograms (intermediate level)
• Computer skills as related to an electronic health record
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
• Good attendance and work record
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Functional proficiency in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French – and testing completed)
Preferred:
• Membership with RNAO, OPANA
• Post Anesthetic Course
