Position Overview

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine-Division of Anatomical Pathology
Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) and the University of Ottawa

Applications are invited for a full-time academic Renal pathologist position. We are seeking candidates with fellowship training and/or significant working experience in renal (medical kidney) pathology. You will join the service with other subspecialty trained pathologists. Our annual volume is approximately 400 adult native and allograft kidney biopsies. In addition to your subspecialty, like every pathologist you are expected to participate in more than one subspecialty service of your preference and/or division needs. The candidate will participate both in diagnostic and consultation services.

The minimum requirements to apply include a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, license to practice in Ontario, and Royal College of Physicians (Canada) certification and/or equivalent board certification in Anatomical Pathology. The candidate will have academic appointment at the University of Ottawa and is expected to participate in collaborative research and teaching activities. Rank will be commensurate with experience according to the University Guidelines. Salary and benefits accord with Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation (UMLC) for pathologists in Ontario (currently C$ 367,000). Only selected candidates will be contacted for interview and the competition will remain open until the position is filled.

As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

About EORLA:
EORLA (Please visit eorla.ca) operates 18 regional hospital-based licensed clinical laboratories across the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (CLHIN) of Eastern Ontario including the Ottawa Hospital and the Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario. The laboratory staff includes over 725 Medical Laboratory Professionals, 70 Medical/Scientific staff and 15 Pathology Residents.

The Division of Anatomical Pathology Reference Laboratory at the Ottawa Hospital processes collectively more than 75,000 surgical pathology specimens and 20,000 cytology specimens per year. The Division of Anatomic Pathology at the Ottawa Hospital operates a subspecialty-based practice with a high proportion of GI, Gynecology and Breast cases. The Division has a state-of-the-art molecular oncology diagnostic laboratory which includes next generation sequencing technology and other platforms to support precision medicine and clinical trials.
