Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.
Summary of responsibilities
The overall function of the Emergency Room Assistant is to assist our patients, caregivers and community to manage clinical conditions and transitions, maximize the patient’s self-care abilities, as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care.
The Emergency Room Assistant is responsible to provide support services for the overall provision of nursing care in the Emergency Department. He/she will also, under the direction of the RN, perform specific tasks of direct patient care.
Requirements of the job
• Graduate of a recognized post-secondary Personal Support Worker Program
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills, strong team orientation
• Experience with casting and splinting
• Experience with ORMED and Whiteboard
• Minimum 1 year experience in ER or similar environment
• Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety

• Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French) – and testing completed
