Position Overview
This position is responsible for the technical supervision and support of daily laboratory operations to ensure quality of work/compliance with policies and procedures. Apply knowledge and experience to guide and act as a resource to other staff members and promote a cooperative atmosphere. They ensure respectful communications, respond to challenges and obstacles, make decisions, take appropriate action and provide solutions. They are also responsible for assisting with the implementation of changes and/or corrective actions. Are required to perform ‘hands on’ routine testing.
Rotation/Shifts
Days and evenings, including weekends, 8 hour shifts. For information purposes only – EORLA reserves the right to change.
Basic Requirements
• Graduation from an accredited MLT program or equivalent CSMLS prior learning assessment program;
• Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in the appropriate field of practice;
• Minimum 4 years of laboratory experience in a relevant discipline;
• Specific coursework or experience in leadership, time management, communication/interaction (including presentations), critical thinking, applied investigation, problem-solving, professionalism, facilitation and conflict resolution;
• Knowledge of relevant health care regulations, and advanced knowledge in medical laboratory theory, principles and practices;
• Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
• Sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

Preferred Qualifications
• Completion of a recognized MLT-Molecular Genetics program;
• Current clinical laboratory experience in Molecular Genetics;
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of laboratory procedures, instruments, and equipment in Molecular Genetics including but not limited to Next Generation Sequencing;
• Prior experience in validation and training of new equipment;
• Experience in resolution of molecular procedural, operational and technical issues;
• Relevant university degree from a recognized program;
• Bilingualism is considered an asset.
