Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.
Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Services, the technologist will produce all required radiological examinations according to prescribed standards. He/ She will process images as required, utilize all protective radiation safeguards and assume office and other related duties as required. He/She will perform routine screenings, call backs, needle localizations, seed localizations, biopsies and perform studies in keeping with the Ontario Breast Screening Program. He/She will document all appropriate information in the radiology information system and uphold all policies and procedures of the department and organization.
Requirements of the job
• Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario
• Current “Certificate in Breast Imaging” (CBI) and it will be required to maintain this certification while employed as a Mammography Tech
• Strong computer skills and strong working knowledge of Ris/PACS
• Proficiency in digitized radiography equipment
• Strong understanding and proven ability to perform daily and monthly quality control procedures specific to mammographic equipment
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work without supervision during certain shifts and be able to problem solve and make certain decisions independently
• Ability to meet physical demands of position and withstand constant standing and/or walking
• Current certification in BCLS
• Demonstrated regular/punctual attendance
• Functional proficiency in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French – and testing completed
