The Officer, Legal, Privacy, Governance and Risk Management Services (LPGR) provides analysis, advice and guidance on the application and interpretation of legislation, regulations and applicable policies.

The Officer prepares a wide range of documentation related to diverse matters of interest to TOH with respect to the application, interpretation, and compliance with law.

The Officer will work collaboratively and effectively with stakeholders to protect TOH from potential and actual negative reputational and financial impacts associated with non-compliance with law.

• Bachelor’s Degree In Law (J.D, LL.B);
• Membership in a freedom of information, privacy or security association (e.g. International Association of Privacy Professionals, designations such as CIPP / C or CIPP / IT, etc.);
• Minimum 5 years experience,preferably working in a legal, freedom of information, privacy or healthcare environment; 
• Knowledge of legislation/regulations and awareness of judicial decisions impacting freedom of information and privacy management (including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Public Hospitals Act, Coroner’s Act, Mental Health Act);
• Knowledge of hospital organization and health care delivery systems;
• Experience in implementing, monitoring and identifying areas for improvement with respect to administrative processes, filing, tracking and bring forward systems; 
• Experience in a leadership role;
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills in order to deliver effective training;
• Empathic listening skills;
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation/mediation/dispute resolution and problem-solving skills;
• Strong coaching and counselling skills;
• Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills;
• Computer skills (word processing, email, manipulate date for report generation and graphics presentation;
• Time management skills;
• Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills.

• Master’s degree in health informatics, health administration, business, law, or related discipline;
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada;
• Call to the bar.
