Position Overview

SUMMARY:

A brief list of the Physician Assistant’s duties will include the following:
Conduct patient assessments, medical histories, and physical examinations.
Order diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and MRI scans.
Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans, including non-surgical and surgical interventions.
Perform joint injections and aspirations.
Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons in the operating room during surgical procedures.
Provide patient education on orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and post-operative care.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care discussions.
Assist in managing clinic schedules and patient triage to ensure efficient operations.
Stay current with medical knowledge and advancements in the field of orthopedics.

Education and experience

Graduate of a recognized physician assistant program or equivalent
Successfully passed the Physician Assistant Entry to Practice Certification Examination and hold the CCPA designation
Maintenance of yearly certification including 40 credits of continuing medical education annually

Skills

Current appropriate level of life-support training (e.g., BCLS)
Ability to work in an interprofessional healthcare environment
Ability to function collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and practice in a self-directed manner
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills (French preferred)

HOURS OF WORK:

Permanent Full-time – 37.5 hours per week.
Days with extended tours (11.25 hrs per day), including weekends.
