Duties:
- Provide supportive nursing care consistent with patient treatment/rehabilitation needs and goals.
- Assist in assessment of patients’ needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care plans for assigned patients in collaboration and consultation with members of the inter-disciplinary team.
- Provide nursing services as assigned, assist patients with daily living activities and personal care.
- Provide a safe, therapeutic environment including crisis management and emergency nursing care.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and practice of program policies, procedures, applicable legislation, and mental health best practices.
- Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
- Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the Province of Ontario.
- Ability to perform full Registered Practical Nursing functions.
- Certified in CPR and First Aid
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act.
- Satisfactory Police Records Check, for vulnerable sector.
- Valid drivers’ license.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Safety and Security in the Workplace Training (candidate must agree to complete prior to start date if this qualification is not met).
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual is an asset.
