Summary
of
responsibilities
As
a
member
of
the
interdisciplinary
team,
the
role
of
Registered
Practical
Nurse
(RPN)
at
CCH
is
to
deliver
safe,
effective,
patient-centered,
ethical,
and
evidenced-based
nursing
care.
The
overall
function
of
the
RPN
is
to
assist
our
patients
and
community
to
manage
clinical
conditions
and
transitions
and
maximize
their
self-care
abilities.
The
RPN
also
acts
as
a
resource
for
members
of
the
care
team
as
well
as
embody
a
culture
of
caregiver
inclusion
in
the
patient’s
plan
of
care.
A
compassionate
and
non-judgmental
experienced
Registered
Practical
Nurse,
you
will
use
Trauma
Informed
Care,
skills
and
expertise
in
physical
assessment
to
provide
emergency
health/psychological
and
forensic
care
to
victims
of
sexual
assault
and/or
intimate
partner
violence.
You
have
demonstrated
positive
communication
skills
and
enjoy
working
on
a
multi-disciplinary
team.
You
will
enjoy
a
variety
of
duties
that
include:
follow-up
nursing
care
to
patients,
on-call
shifts,
and
increasing
awareness
of
services
for
staff
within
CCH
and
community
partners.
It
is
the
expectation
that
attendance
at
monthly
staff
meetings
is
mandatory.
This
position
provides
the
unique
opportunity
of
working
in
a
specialized
care
area.
Team
members

Requirements
of
the
job
•
Graduate
of
a
2
year
Community
College
Program
•
Certificate
of
registration
from
the
College
of
Nurses
of
Ontario
•
Valid
Basic
life
Support
(BLS)
•
Knowledge
and
expertise
in
nursing
and
demonstrated
ability
to
use
critical
thinking,
nursing
knowledge
and
judgement
to
provide
quality
client
care
•
Completion
of
Sexual
Assault
Nurse
Examiner
training
•
Demonstrated
recent
experience
relevant
to
the
area
of
practice
–
(Sexual
Assault
and
Intimate
Partner
Violence)
•
Excellent
presentation,
communication
and
public
relations
skills
•
Ability
to
meet
the
physical
demands
of
the
position
•
Ability
to
arrive
at
the
Hospital
within
60
minutes
of
being
called
•
Demonstrated
ability
in
using
an
Electronic
Health
Record
•
Demonstrated
regular,
punctual
attendance

commitment

patient

Valid

license
