RESIDENT PROGRAM MANAGER
WEST PARK LONG-TERM CARE CENTRE
Candidates are invited to apply for the above full-time position to work at West Park Long-Term Care Centre, a 200-bed long-term care facility, located in Toronto, Ontario.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize, direct and supervise the department program which includes but not limited to:
- recreational, restorative care, pastoral care, social work, music therapist and volunteers.
- Implement and evaluate program relating to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
- Coordinate activities with those of other departments and inform administration of departmental activities, needs and problems.
- Develop departmental goals and objects.
- Actively participate in program delivery.
- Develop, implement, and monitor programming budget.
- To lead and coordinate daily/weekly/monthly/yearly celebrations (such as Nursing Week, Seniors Day, Dietary week, Dietician day, Physiotherapy day, etc)
- Satisfy Health Record as they pertain to the department (MDS experience an asset)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university required
- Knowledge of the concepts of Restorative care, Holistic care, Activation and Dementia Care
- Minimum one-year supervisory experience required
- Experience in planning, developing and evaluating effectiveness of individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and have a command of the English language.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner
- Knowledge of community resources, program development, MOHLTC standards
- Previous supervisory experience in long term care an asset
- Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required
- At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience with persons in a health care setting required
- Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of volunteers required
