POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for acting as a subject matter expert for all corporate accounting components of the hospital’s Business Optimization Project, including the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This includes advanced technical and advisory support for the development of workflow processes within the defined scope of the Business Optimization Project.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is not an exhaustive list)
- Translates general accounting requirements into future ERP system implementation;
- Works closely with various stakeholders and members of the ERP team to analyze and optimize finance workflow processes and utilization of the current ERP system;
- Identifies process gaps and implements steps to align financial processes to ERP system;
- Assists in analyzing, developing, testing, optimizing and implementing standard financial reports from various modules;
- Identifies opportunities for workflow improvements as well as for improvements within the organization’s financial and operational processes;
- Formally documents finance processes using business process mapping and policy/procedure documents;
- Responds to questions and inquiries on corporate accounting processes from other staff;
- Supports the implementation team in all finance components of the ERP implementation, including integration of external systems and ERP modules such as payroll, accounts payable and stores inventory;
- Leads ERP training for finance staff, as required;
- Collaborates with the vendor and implementor to create and/or adhere to industry best practices.
Develops workflow processes for, but not limited to:
- Importing historical financial data into the ERP system, as required;
- Aligning CHEO’s chart of accounts with OHRS/MIS standards;
- Creating multiple entities within the general ledger, including automation of the intercompany due to/from balances;
- Establishing general ledger policies;
- Implementing new capital, treasury, budget and accounts receivable processes that align with the ERP system;
- To the extent possible, automating repetitive procedures;
- Establishing clear month-end close procedures, including reporting to operational/clinical management
- Creating financial dashboards based on key business performance metrics;
- Preparing monthly and year-end financial analyses of key general ledger control accounts for the external audit;
- Designing and reviewing audit trails within the ERP system.
SKILL
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Post-secondary education is required in a related discipline such as Finance or Accounting (experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements);
- A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of previous finance work experience is required;
- Work experience in healthcare, particularly with knowledge of MIS and/or Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards, is an asset;
- Experience working on a complex ERP system is an asset.
- CPA, MHA or MBA designation is required

- Highly organized with demonstrated initiative and ability to adjust priorities;
- Strong computer processing skills, including Excel and Visio, are required;
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail;
