Résumé des responsabilités

Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, you will be part of the Cardiopulmonary Department and Sleep Laboratory and will oversee the smooth functioning of diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations. Your key responsibilities will be to:
• Ensure the proper functioning of the instruments and technical equipment.
• Ensure its maintenance and oversee the examination room to make sure that it is well maintained and supplied with the necessary material.
• Use the imaging equipment and all other related equipment to produce diagnostic examinations.
• Inform the cardiologist when a patient’s pathology or condition requires the standard protocol to be modified.
• Prepare patients and proceed with the assessment of their condition.
• Obtain and document the observations of high-quality images obtained by the structures involved in the examination using the PACS system.
• Using the PACS system, manipulate data and images following examinations and complete all documentation required for each patient according to department policies (e.g., opinion of the sonographer).
• Make decisions in accordance with the scope of practice that foster a sense of belonging and demonstrate professionalism, and remain accountable while performing duties in a competent, ethical and safe manner.
• If necessary, conduct exercise stress tests with or without imaging for the Non-invasive Cardiology Department.
• If necessary, install a Holter monitor and analyze the data collected by the Non-invasive Cardiology Department.
• Keep skills up to date and practise the profession in a considered manner.
• Respond quickly, promptly and professionally to various critical situations.
• Maintain a dialogue with patients and their families to help them understand the treatment plan and choose the treatments that correspond to each patient’s individual needs.
• Ensure a therapeutic and professional relationship through collaboration with patients, their loved ones and members of the interprofessional team to plan, implement and evaluate their treatment in keeping with their needs, their values and their beliefs.
• Offer learning opportunities to patients and their loved ones, in consultation with the interprofessional team.

Profil et expérience

• Be an active member of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) and hold a certificate of registration for the scope of practice related to the position
• Hold a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
• Have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a position considered equivalent in a hospital setting
