I came to the QCH ED in 2005 as a student and did a placement there in my final year of nursing school and loved it so much that I moved here from Newfoundland to work in the ED. I worked at the Q for 11 years and ultimately left in 2016 for a full time IPAC job in Arnprior. It was heartbreaking to leave. I cried all the way to my car and all the way home, because the Queensway was my home away from home and my family away from my family. For 4 years I worked in other 2 other hospitals with amazing bosses and amazing coworkers. I grew as a nurse and an ICP and I learned so much, but I wasn’t content. My heart was at the Queensway, where I had my first job as a nurse, where I gave birth to my first baby and the place where I feel at home. QCH is where I go if my kids get sick, it’s my community hospital. I love working here and being here, surrounded by so many people who feel the same way I do about “the Q” as we lovingly call it. I want to make us better and provide safe, quality care to my community. I am so proud to be a happy of the QCH team and even during a pandemic, there is no place I would rather be ☺
