Position Summary:
The Peer Support Worker is a member of a multidisciplinary team serving women, children and men who have been victims of or affected by sexual assault and or domestic violence. This position will provide individuals with access to the support and expertise of someone who has lived experience with sexual assault and or domestic violence. The Peer Support Worker will provide supportive counselling, advocacy and support services to clients and families of ARCC. This position will also provide educational presentations and will participate in community development.
Requirements:

Provide peer counselling and advocacy

Provide expertise and consultation to the ARCC team

Co-create and co-facilitate women and men’s support groups

Provide outreach to rural areas

Encourage skill building that leads to enhanced health and wellness

Educate community service providers and other stakeholders on issues related to violence against women

Network with consumer/survivor resource groups as necessary

Maintain confidentiality of clients
- Assist with maintaining and updating social media platforms

Maintain accurate client files and collect statistical information

Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office

Attend team meetings as appropriate

Understanding of gendered violence

Knowledge of community resources

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Strong leadership and group facilitation skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills
